Alumni speak

I am from the nutrition background but even in my own subject, I learnt a lot of new things in terms of newer trends and techniques. Although I did not have much time to concentrate on the assignments or read thoroughly due to my own work pressures but we needed to plan lot of projects for assignments which gave an opportunity to learn how to write projects. I tried doing all on my own and it generated a lot of interest for me to write projects and papers. I am more confident of writing proposals. I need to understand biostatistics in much more detail but the course has definitely made me curious enough to read and practice it more and try to master it. I would definitely like to join a course in biostatistics to learn it better right from the beginning. This course definitely sensitizes the student but one has to do a lot of self-reading as well but overall, a very well structured program.

PHN course helped in many ways as addition to my CV. Understood how effective a medium an online mode of learning could be. Skills learnt are calculating calorie requirement and menu planning for individual to help reducing and maintaining weight within desired level. Result based Project management (RBM) techniques to design and monitoring the progress of projects against different input, process, output, outcome and impact indicators were also useful.

The course has helped me in broadening and sharpening my technical knowledge on overall health and nutrition topic. For long time, I was looking for such course because I had not attended formal course on health and nutrition although I have a long experience of working in the field of nutrition with several short training course on piecemeal basis. The PHN course therefore built a strong bridging between my area of work and authentic knowledge and skills. The course has increased my confidence level significantly. Skills that I learned in relation to designing and implementing nutrition interventions, monitoring and evaluation, behavior change communication were most useful in my job.

As I am working in Nutrition Research Centre and have to carry out some research related projects related to Nutrition, the overall course is very useful. If I examine in module wise manner Research Methods and Applied Biostatistics are very useful to formulate the research projects and also for the result analysis. To carry out the community nutrition programs, the community nutrition module is good. Modules Food Safety in Practices and Planning & Management of Nutrition programs will help to take more projects in that field. Assignments were somewhat difficult. Interactive sessions and special sessions were very effective. As a whole, the overall course is effective.

During the course, I benefited a lot with knowledge gained in this module. I performed a lot of training material in MCH with knowledge gained. It helped me also to be updated in many nutrition issues. Thank you PHFI. I am implementing standard for child nutrition in our Project for Ministry of Health.
