In my current job, I find the course is very useful in developing strategies; designing tools for effective program implementation, understanding maternal and child health programs better. This course has helped me in estimating number of pregnant women, live births etc. in a specific geographical area by calculating CBR. Also I understand the interventions/strategies for reduction in NMR/IMR considering all the situational contexts; effective implementation of maternal health programs by optimum utilization of health services provided by Govt. functionaries like ANMs, Health Supervisor etc. Also I have now better understanding of different national schemes/programs based on reproductive, maternal and neo-natal health.

I have not yet completed this program as only five modules are completed. However, because of this course I am now more familiar with community health issues. I did not have much clarity of research techniques and methodology but now I am acquainted with research methods. I gained good knowledge regarding health programs through this course. This course has given me confidence and I feel it when I attend any workshops, seminars on health issues. I felt that my opinion is being given much importance by district health authorities. I hope this course will help me in getting good job soon. I raised the issue of stay of delivering women at health facility in front of district magistrate and chief medical officers and put some facts and figures in front of them. DM was convinced and he has instructed CMO to ensure stay of delivering women in health facility.

The course had refined my research skills. The course is very structured and well designed to make it an easy learning experience for the students with esteemed faculty.

This course has clarified and improved my knowledge in the field of public health. I am well acquainted with RCH program as I have worked for trainings for Maternal health, Child Health Intervention, Quality Assurance etc. First of all, being distance learning it can be done with the existing job without taking leaves and one can be with the family. Secondly, as I am working as State Program Manager I appreciate the incorporation of chapters on planning.

PG diploma program in Epidemiology had helped me in advancing my knowledge in public health as well as to my academic career. Basically I’m from monitoring and evaluation background which helped me more in gaining knowledge in analysing and design the studies. I would like to specially mention the subject on statistics and practical epidemiology. A good initiative for working professionals, only one request- give lots of examples through sharing papers on studies and providing datasets in statistical modules.
