BACKGROUND

Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) remains a major thrust of National Health Mission of India. RCH programmes are also increasing in their complexity due to increased basket of services and increasing resources. There is therefore a growing need for program managers at state and District Program Management Units to have the requisite knowledge and skills to effectively manage the RCH programmes..

GOAL

The course aims to enhance capacity and skills of participants to effectively manage reproductive and child health programmes.

OBJECTIVE

To develop an in-depth understanding of technical and programmatic issues related to reproductive and child health programmes and to strengthen the capacity to plan, manage and monitor RCH programmes at the state and district level.

DURATION

The total duration of the course is twelve months. The program is an eLearning course involving virtual lectures, group interactions and self-reading.

Eligibility

The course is open to health professionals who are involved or wish to be involved in managing the RCH programme at the state or district level. Applicants should have at least a Bachelors’ degree in Medicine or Nursing or higher degrees in Public Health, Nutrition, Social Work or Management.

ADMISSION PROCESS

The admission to the course will be granted on the basis of merit. Eligible candidates will be screened objectively, based on their academic qualifications, experience and statement of purpose by a specially constituted screening committee of Indian Institute of Public Health-Delhi.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

The course will be delivered through a web-based platform and will utilize a blended online teaching/ learning technique. The basic course structure includes a combination of interactive online computer-based sessions, online virtual lectures, assessments and recommended readings from journal articles and text books in a modular format. Online learning sessions would be conducted by designated faculty members and students would be able to log on from their laptops/ personal computers. English is the main languages for instructions. Faculty with diverse disciplinary backgrounds, national and international experience combined with a breadth and depth of public health knowledge will teach this course.

STUDENT’S ASSESSMENT AND AWARD OF ONLINE CERTIFICATE

The assessment system that the course intends to follow has three tiers, i.e. concurrent assessment, interim assessment and final assessment.

Concurrent Assessment will include virtually provided mixture of objective type questions at the end of each lecture.

Interim Assessment will include an examination to be held after completing first five modules. Objective type questions and short questions will be used for this assessment.

Final assessment will include final term examination for the last five modules.

The distribution of weightage of marks each of the components will be as follows:
     Virtually provided objective type questions      50%
     Interim assessment                                               25%
     Final assessment                                                    25%


Final online certificate will be awarded only to the students who successfully complete the course and clear all the course requirements.

The quality and content offered by the course will enhance competencies related to program management specific to reproductive and child health areas.
