After graduation and post graduation from Govt Medical College Nagpur, one of the finest medical colleges in central India, he started his career with teaching in Community Medicine.

After five years as faculty, he joined Army Medical Corp on a short service commission and was seconded to Air Force, where he was a graded specialist. In IAF, he was posted at Air Force Academy, Secunderabad (a prime training institute for IAF officers) and later at Air Force Station Palam , New Delhi. It was an eventful tenure full of memorable adventures including a short stint at Rajasthan border during Operation Brass-tacks in a warlike situation. At the time of release from Air Force in 1991, he held the rank of Squadron Leader.

End of this military career was the beginning of a long stint with industry as manager of medical and occupational health services. He has spent about two years in an Iron & Steel Company and approximately 18 years with a French multinational, Saint Gobain. He was MR for EHS (ISO 14001 & BS OHSAS 18001), in-charge of EHS for abrasives division and Medical Advisor for the group in India.

An active member of Mumbai IAOH (Indian Association of Occupational Health), he has worked as Journal Secretary of IJOEM. Along with other senior members of IAOH Mumbai, he is a part of the think-tank and has organized several seminars and workshops in local and national conferences. Workshop for Occupational Health Physicians at the IAOH conference in Hyderabad was a notable success.

He is also a member of ICOH and its sub committee on Occupational Health and Development. He has participated in ICOH congress at Singapore and Milan.

He was awarded a German government scholarship for participating in Summer School for Occupational Health Physicians at LMU, Munich in 2010. His talk on model Occupational Health System won the Best Presentation Award.

He received the Best Resource person award during National IAOH Conference at Baroda in Feb 2011.

At ICOH Congress held at Cancun, Mexico in March 2012, he organized a workshop on skill sets for occupational health physician, aimed primarily at OHPs from developing countries. He also presented a paper in this conference.

He is a qualified auditor for OHSAS 18001, SA8000, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001.

He has joined IIPHG in Dec 2012 as Senior Specialist & Adjunct Professor, Occupational & Environmental Health.
