About the course
Policy makers and managers have to constantly look for evidences to base and back their decisions with. These evidences come from various forms of research conducted at different levels. Economic Evaluations provide valuable evidence on the efficiency of public health programmes by combining economic and health outcome information and provide a transparent aid for decision making. This workshop would provide an overview at the various forms of Economic Evaluations and their usage. Detailed understanding of cost-effectiveveness, cost-utility and cost-benefit analysis will be provided. Participants would get hands on experience of working with data and conduct an economic evaluation using a computer based decision analysis software. Primary focus will be on cost-effectiveness analysis
At the end of this workshop participants should be able to: understand the various forms of economic evaluations and their usage, get a detailed understanding and practice of cost-effectiveness, cost-utlity and cost-benefit analysis using contingent valuation, identify various areas in their own workplaces that may benefit form economic evaluations, initiate independent studies using basic economic modelling.

This workshop is suitable for development and public health workers involved in managing projects. It is expected to be beneficial for health service personnel with the responsibility of managing health posts. It would also be suitable for medical residents, faculty involved in clinical research, researchers from the industry, clinical trial managers, PhD scholars, program managers and health professionals involved in clinical care.

The registration fee includes course kit, lunch and snacks. Please note that the participants will have to bear their own travel, boarding and lodging expenses. However, the organizers will be able to provide a list of hotels or guesthouses nearby the institute upon request.
