About the course
This 5-day course on Impact Evaluation of Public Health Programmes aims to provide with the necessary scientific methodology and practical knowledge to meet the growing demand for rigorous impact evaluation of development programmes in general and public health programmes in particular. At the end of this course the participants will be able to understand fundamental concepts of ‘Treatment Effects’ and will be equipped to conduct quantitative rigorous impact evaluation. Through a combination of theory, application and practical examples this course will address:
How to design an impact evaluation – research design?
How do we frame the right evaluation questions and choose the right indicators?
How to design a cluster randomized control trial?
How to design a quasi-experimental study design?
What is role of confounders and how to control them?
How to use the study results for decision-making?
Stata 14 software will be used for demonstration and to work on the practical exercise. The participant is expected to know basic Stata for participating in the workshop. Since the course uses significant amount of statistical and econometric modelling, participants are also expected to have some basic knowledge of statistical and econometric tools.
Who should attend?
The course is designed for those who need to perform rigorous impact evaluation of public programmes, and those who need to understand in some depth the issues that health economists face when performing these analyses. Since the course offers practical methods to conduct these analyses, researchers and commercial and academic organizations concerned with monitoring and evaluation would be benefited by developing analytical skills during the course.

The registration fee includes course kit, lunch and snacks. Please note that the participants will have to bear their own travel, boarding and lodging expenses. However, the organizers will be able to provide a list of hotels or guesthouses nearby the institute upon request
